Anti-Resolutions Post

10 Anti-Resolutions for the Asian

10.  Muscle Cars

I will not rev my car to owners of muscle cars or anyone driving a muscle car within my line of sight.  I will instead, willingly allow them to to pass me and have a glimpse of the 2013 Scion tC.

9.  Ethical Excuses

I will not create excuses to decrease my responsibilities at work.  I will be a great employee and do what is asked of me.  I will perform my tasks efficiently and complete the duties as well as possible.

8.  Gas Money

I will not use my parents' money to purchase gas for either the 1997 Toyota Camry or the 2013 Scion tC.  Instead, I will use my own hard-earned money to obtain gas for my own personal use for either school, work, or optional travels.
7.  Sleep

I will begin to sleep on time from 9:00pm - 12:00am depending on my work hours.  I will not stay up any later than I need to and I will refrain from temptations with my girlfriend.

6.  Online Shopping

I will not spend my time shopping online for upgrades on my vehicles or unnecessary products for anyone including myself.  I need to save money and pay off my car as soon as I can.

5.  Chop-Sticks

I will start using the chop-sticks more often than I normally would, including desert foods.  It is a part of my culture and I believe it is time to allow my ethnic background to grow stronger.

4.   Relationships

I will not branch out to flirt and talk with other women.  I will stick with my girlfriend and pull through the youth age.  It is for this reason that I will prove my worth  and my passion to her.

3.  Books

I will quit judging a book by its cover and just read what the book has to offer.  Normally I would pick up the book, look at the cover, read the summary, and judge the content of the book based both descriptions.

2.  Memory

I will not forget my tasks on what I need to bring to school on a daily basis.  I need to develop stronger memory for myself and for the future that I am looking forward to.

1.  Facebook

I will quit spending all my time on Facebook and start using that time to make my life a better place for me.  With all the time combined from my time spent on Facebook, I probably could have already created my own space craft!

  1. Nice post man! Using chop sticks to strengthen your ethnic background is a great thing to do. Your ethnic background defines who you are and where you came from. It's also good you’re going to stop revving up your engine at muscle cars (they have you beat on sound and power haha) but you could probably still out-run them. Way too many people spend way too much time on Facebook, good call easing up on your addiction. On #3 do you actually mean books in general or the concept of judging a book by its cover? Because i completely agree with not judging people before you get to know them but as for books, there just not worth my time. (haha) Anyways you don’t need #2 your Asian you've got all the memory you need! Although you have forgotten your jump drive when you've really needed it for assignments on multiple occasions, but as for memorizing for studying for assignments you have that on lock down. Anyways good talking to you man hope to see you posting more soon!

  2. I'm liking these posts! Short and simple, to the point, love it. I find it kind of funny how it seems that most of our posts throughout the class consist of Facebook. It's amazing how it impacts our lives. It's a bit insane. I couldn't help but laugh reading about you and your car. I find it so amusing how much it is your "baby." Good call on sticking to your woman. "branching out" and "flirting" probably isn't so good in trying to maintain a good healthy relationship. But I wish you best of luck with your Anti-Resolutions!

  3. Well Sura, I would honestly have to say I could agree with you on a lot of your Anti-Resolutions. Facebook does seem to control our lives, no matter what age you are. It seems as though you can go outside and see a squirrel and then have to Facebook about it. It is also good to hear you have got a girlfriend, who you really care about and are willing to stop flirting with other girls for. :) When it comes to the whole gas money thing it is good to see that you are taking a better responsibility for yourself whenever it comes to gas money. Opposed to barrowing money from your parents. Your ethnic backgrounds are a important part of who you really are, no matter what kind of background you have. At times it helps form you for who you really are as a person, friend, spouse or even family member.

  4. You are a genius and one who sounds like they really like (love) their girlfriend, I'm happy for you having someone you enjoy and care about is a really good feeling. Something you also love would be that beautiful car you own, she or he is quite a beauty and its good that your working to pay it off, you and jake are pretty smart cookies. I like that you guys aren't like some of these cocky people who just get everything handed to them on a silver platter, you guys actually work for what you want! I really respect that. Facebook will become the death of us...thats all people talk about and of course twitter, omg this omg that. It's all pretty pointless to me and it has ruined how we associate with people. We would rather stalk them on facebook, get their number, talk to them and then meet at a social gathering. haha thats funny. I also liked number 5. I like that you want to go back to what you were taught originally in your culture, I always try to use them but always have to get the cheater clamps and those cost me a whole 0.50 cents! Well I thought you antiresolutions were really good! Goodluck

who am I kidding you don't need luck :)

  5. Sura,
I love your anti-resolutions, they really describe you as a person, at least who I think you are. Number 4 of your list is a great one to follow. The relationship I am in now is really important to me and I chose not to flirt with other guys because I do not want to ruin what I have gained. Number 5 is also a great one. People should always keep the culture that way they can pass it on to their children and the culture isn't lost. Number 1 of your anti-resolution is one I should keep in mind as well. I spend quite a bit of time on Facebook and I could get a lot more done if I did stop. Number 6 of your resolutions is one that I have trouble with. The other day I went looking around on the internet and when I was finished I realized that I was about to buy $500 worth of stuff I didn't need. Number 8 of your list is something that I don’t really have control over. I do not have a job so money doesn't come regularly so I have to have them pay for school gas. I pay for the rest. I hope that your anti-resolutions can be accomplished.

  6. Oh Sura...
Where do I start? Well first if reving your car at muscle cars gets at the other person you bet I would keep doing it. second chop sticks... I hate it when I go to like happy house or somewhere and you hear a white guy ask for chop sticks I think to myself what a jerk off haha but that hay have to do with the fact I love finger foods hell everything could be finger foods in my opinion. Last I think if you took all your time away from Facebook then you wouldn’t have 600 girlfriends good or bad I don’t know but then how would you occupy yourself? I honestly hate Facebook and I might maybe get on it once a week or month just to look at the funny pictures that get posted. Ifunny is like the best thing since the funnies in the newspapers haha

  7. Sura, first off I thought number two said ethnic excuses. My bad, but you probably shouldn't use those either. :)You work hard for what you want and that is a really good quality to have. I like that you use your own money to get things you want instead of bumming off your parents. I am also guilty of staying up later than I should and then regretting it in the morning when I am still tired. I like that you are keeping parts of your culture alive so that if you ever have children, not saying you will, you can teach them about their heritage. Every time I use chopsticks I have to re-teach myself how to use them. It's pretty embarrassing for the first few minutes! I am glad you have left the pimp life behind and choose to remain faithful to your girlfriend. I will miss all your crazy stories at parli practice though. Best of luck with monogamy and all of your endeavors!

  8. Oh, Sura, your writing always humors me, especially when you talk about your relationships. I guess I just can’t see why it is so hard for you to not flirt. Is revving the engine something you normally do when you see muscle cars? I know when I see a driver doing that it pisses me off. I am sorry if that annoyance was ever targeted towards you, I did not know it was you. On a related note, I do not understand you boys and your vehicles (ahem, Jake you’re included in this too.) I know that I drive a truck. That truck is red. It is called an s10. That is the extent of my knowledge on the subject. But I probably know the equivalent of TV as you do about cars, so I reckon that makes us even. Anyway, best of luck in this blogging world. I look forward to seeing your take on things.

  9. Sura, let me start off by asking do you like own tokyo? You car is so amzing and your way to smart to go to this school lol. I am totally with you on the chop sticks brotha they are sooo fun to use and they make me feel so cool lol. Did you say 9pm to 12am what kind of evil work schedule doo you have, dude you need your eight hours!! Yo sura I am what most people would call the loove docta and there aint nothin wrong with a little flirtin as long as you aint touchin. See flirtin is mistaken as cheating without touching but its not its just talkin to a girl and you making each other happy!!

  10. Sura it's fun reading about your anti resolutions and comparing it to how you are in real life. I never knew you would do online shopping for upgrades on your vehicle because it never occured to me that you were into cars that much. I do agree with you on the books because if I like the cover I would read the back of the book to get an idea of what the story is like before I decide to put it on my To-Read list. Although I would not stop judging a book by its cover because if I'm not interested in the first place I will never finish reading it. But its a good start that you would not judge a book by it's cover. Good luck on your list!
